This book is a practical course in Arabic-English translation (bi-directional). It comprises a comprehensive Course Description that caters for the needs of the university student, as well as those of the specialising translator. It introduces the beginner to the basics of translation, and moves on to initiate learners with intermediate and advanced profiles in ways of handling increasingly challenging tasks. It is organised in such a way as to begin with sentences and proceed through paragraphs to full-fledged texts. Excerpts from texts (examinations and other) are harnessed for the illustration of aspects related to tense, sentence structure, grammar, idiomaticity, figures of style, special vs. general terms, and contextual clues. The book features 38 translated texts (from Arabic into English and vice versa) and 6 glossaries (legal, economic, literary, military, telecommunications-related and water, health and environment-related). It also presents a list of over 300 errors and mistakes, together with a correction.
